Citrus

Citrus orchards are concentrated in three growing regions – most are in the Hula Valley, with others in the southern Golan and the Western Galilee.

This region has relative advantages, mainly for growing pink grapefruit, however its profitability decreased significantly in recent years, prompting a process of reducing the extent of citrus orchards. Simultaneously, high-quality, easily-peelable citrus varieties are being planted, mainly for the second half of the season.

Research efforts concentrate mainly on introducing new varieties of easily-peelable citrus fruits, improving fruit quality and also improving water-use efficiency and crop management.
